My artwork has evolved with a natural form, whether watercolour painting, ink drawing or ceramic working, I have the same desire which is to create art with an easy, loose and relaxed aesthetic. I achieve this by minimal planning and by taking a light, unrestricted approach to the creative process, it requires both freedom of thought and medium. I’m attracted to muted earth colours, a natural and calm choice of relaxing warm colour values along with strong monochrome is a mode throughout my work. My pieces can easily integrate and honour an interior design scheme.
My ceramic hand-building and sculpting is an adventure with clay and my imagination! I follow the path of free flowing, slow creativity, this is continued throughout my wheel thrown work by the choice of glazes that reflect the natural landscape.

Watercolour painting drives me to recreate the land and seascapes of the Jurassic coast and I am entranced by the constantly changing landscape of slip and cliff erosion. I add to this the practice of contour mapping of coastal landscape with its undulating lines of delineation.

I am an enthusiastic naturalist and wildlife nature recorder, I delight in exploring the darkest corners of the woodlands. In helping to create an archaeobotanical seed reference library I have learnt many British wild plant names and genera, this has encouraged my drawing of botanical black ink artworks that capture the simplicity of the plant forms and reference the seeds I’ve ethically collected.
